On October 29, 2010 the North Carolina Bar Association formally adopted an Ethics Committee Opinion which allows lawyers in North Carolina to participate in barter exchanges, subject to several resaonable criteria.  This opinion was a hard fought victory for IRTA Executive Director Ron Whitney and Maurya Lane (owner of Barter Business Exchange, Raleigh, NC) who both spent countless hours advocating to change the NC Bar Association's original proposal which prohibited attorney's from joining barter exchanges.
