Commercial Barter Facts:
Commercial barter may also be referred to as "Retail Barter"
A Commercial Barter Exchange is defined as a company that
performs as a third party record keeper to facilitate transactions
among members of the exchange using a non-cash currency
called a trade credit. The barter company may be a member of
the exchange, using the exchange currency to buy and sell
goods and services on its own account.
Commercial barter exchanges typically employ trade brokers.
Trade brokers communicate information between members to
facilitate trades. For example, a broker will put a member who
is looking to purchase auto repair in touch with a member who
they know provides auto repair.
