IRTA and the IRS Partnership Outreach
In 2003 the International Reciprocal Trade Association (IRTA) was selected by the U.S.
Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Partnership Outreach Program to represent the barter
community in a strategic partnership.
The purpose of the partnership is for IRTA to collaborate in the design, development,
and delivery of educational products and services for businesses using cashless
transactions, or barter. As a result of cooperative work together, businesses in the U.S.
have a reliable and credible resource for information that ensures that transactions are
properly accounted for.
Just a year after the partnership was formed, IRTA was formally recognized by the
IRS as one of the most influential organizations in he bartering community and for the
excellent quality of its participation and outstanding team effort.
In 2007 IRTA's Executive Director, Ron Whitney was appointed to the IRS's business
advisory group IRPAC (Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee).
Ron is working on changing the current burdensome IRS TIN non-matching regulations
that have caused major problems for exchange owners in the U.S.
